The Oppenheimer

The Oppenheimer was inspired by the 2023 summer blockbuster "Oppenheimer". J. Robert Oppenheimer, was director of the Manhattan Project that developed the first nuclear weapons. The rum and bitters evoke the fiery and volatile nature of those weapons, while the Cointreau adds a touch of sweetness and light to balance it out, like Oppenheimer’s regret later in life over his role in their creation. The lemon twist garnish resembles both a mushroom cloud and a fireball. Enjoy this complex and contemplative cocktail!

Ingredients:

• ¼ oz Classic Gum Syrup
• 2 oz aged rum
• 1 oz Cointreau
• ½ oz lemon juice
  
• 2 dashes aromatic bitters

Instructions:

• Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker
  
• Add ice and shake hard for 10 seconds
  
• Strain into a chilled coupe glass
• Garnish with a lemon
